Much like muscleheads everywhere prepping their bodies for beach season, the Mercedes-AMG® CLE 53 is bulking up this spring. AMG® has taken the Mercedes-Benz CLE Coupe and put it on an intense training regimen. The result is a significantly beefed-up version of the mid-size, two-door performance coupe.

Performance Plus Power Equals Perfection
The CLE is a new two-door model from Mercedes, taking over for both the C-Class and E-Class Coupes. Now, it officially becomes part of the Mercedes-Benz family by receiving the AMG® treatment. By bypassing the 43 and starting at the 53 series, the Mercedes-AMG® CLE 53 Coupe immediately makes it clear it’s not messing around.
The business starts under the hood, where you’ll find a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six engine with an electric supercharger and mild hybrid system. It’s a more powerful version of the engine found in the CLE 450, delivering 443 hp and 413 pound-feet of torque. This has helped shave the 0-60 time down to an even four seconds, with an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph.
The added bulk does nothing to diminish performance. Running on standard all-wheel drive, the Mercedes-AMG® CLE 53 offers a refreshingly silent driving experience – minus the righteous exhaust sounds you’ll get as you climb the tach. Drive modes include Comfort, Sport, Sport +, Individual, and Slippery. With the AMG® Dynamic Plus package, a Race drive mode can be added, through which you can unlock a Drift function.
Addressing Your Needs, for Speed and Otherwise
Inside the Mercedes-AMG® CLE 53, you’ll find the level of luxury and abundance of features you’ve come to expect from the brand. Its 12.3-inch instrument screen keeps tabs on performance metrics, while the 11.9-inch center touchscreen and its MBUX system are similar to the infotainment option available in the C-Class sedan. The AMG®-specific steering wheel includes dials to switch between drive modes on the fly.
The Mercedes-AMG® CLE 53 also comes with optional AMG® Performance Seats, firmly padded and prepared to hold you comfortably in place while the boosted six does its thing. This coupe may be designed for a high-octane experience – but it will still go out of its way to pamper you.
